LNG plants and terminals combine large inventories of flammable material, complex equipment and big construction and commissioning workforces. Safety First Group supports these facilities with the studies, project leadership and training that new and expanding sites need, from early design through start-up.
Facility siting studies for LNG and terminal sites
Where processes are covered by OSHA’s Process Safety Management standard, facility siting studies evaluate occupied buildings against explosion, chemical leak and fire hazards. Our process safety team runs facility siting and blast studies with modeling software, so decisions about where people work and shelter rest on analysis rather than assumptions.
Process hazard analysis for new and changing facilities
New trains, tanks and loading systems all change the hazard picture. We facilitate HAZOP, What-If, SWIFT, Bow-Tie and LOPA studies, and PSV studies that check relief devices against the scenarios they protect against. Running them early in a project lets findings shape the design.
Commissioning and start-up support
Commissioning is where a new facility meets real process conditions for the first time, and it is one of the highest-risk phases of any project. Our project management teams cover the full life cycle from feasibility through QA and commissioning, and we have provided commissioning support for Hess, Cardon IV and DCP Midstream. Our COO led the project to design, build, ship, install and commission a 1.2 Bcf/d gas plant in Venezuela in 18 months.
Site access and training for large workforces
Construction and commissioning bring large numbers of contractors and visitors through the gate. SafetyAnywhere, our platform for training, site orientation and visitor accountability, lets people complete site-specific orientation before they arrive and tracks who is on site.
Experience in the sector
Our safety clients include Tellurian, and our teams bring the same discipline we have applied for ExxonMobil, bp, Hess and other energy companies since 1997.
